Spruce & Shore Motel
9479 Spruce St
Fish Creek, WI
A 1964 motel that floated across the bay, reborn on the Fish Creek shore
About Spruce & Shore Motel
The oldest part of Spruce & Shore dates to 1964, when it stood as part of the Eagle Inn over in Ephraim. In 1981 the building was loaded onto a barge and carried across Green Bay to Fish Creek, where it reopened as the Fish Creek Motel & Cottages. A guest house was added in the early 1970s and a row of suites later on. The current owners have restored and reimagined the whole property, keeping its mid-century motel spirit while bringing the rooms and grounds fully up to date.
What Spruce & Shore Motel Is Known For
It would have been easy to knock down a sixty-year-old motel that had already crossed a bay once. Instead the owners saved it, and the result is a small, design-forward place with a genuine story and a backyard you will not want to leave.

The Room
Each room and suite is designed on its own, so no two feel quite alike. Expect comfortable beds and linens, calm modern styling, and small comforts like an in-room kettle and coffee. The larger suites add gas fireplaces and extra room to spread out.
The Grounds
The shared backyard is built for lingering. There is a heated in-ground pool, a patio strung with lights, a large fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs, and an outdoor sauna. It is the kind of common space that turns a group of guests into an evening around the fire.
The Experience
Fish Creek is one of the most beloved villages on the Door Peninsula, and Spruce & Shore sits within walking distance of its harbor, galleries, shops, and restaurants. The entrance to Peninsula State Park, with its trails, bluffs, lighthouse, and Nicolet Bay beach, is right up the road, and the rest of Door County, from Egg Harbor to Sister Bay, is a short drive up the shore.
