About Quail Park Lodge
Quail Park Lodge was built in 1963 and renovated in 2008 by owner Matt in a mid-century modern aesthetic that sets it apart from the utilitarian lodging lining the Kanab strip. The renovation brought a crayon-colored furniture palette, Route 66-themed artwork, and individually decorated rooms throughout the two-story property. Kanab sits at the junction of US-89 and US-89A in southern Utah, connecting Zion to the north, Bryce Canyon to the east, and the Grand Canyon North Rim to the south. The city carries the nickname Little Hollywood for its Western film history going back to the 1930s. Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the largest no-kill shelter in the United States, is 4 miles north in Angel Canyon.
What Quail Park Lodge Is Known For
Quail Park Lodge is what the independently owned motor lodge can be when someone cares enough about a 1963 building to renovate it with intention rather than replace it with something generic. The crayon palette, the individually decorated rooms, the weekly happy hour, the bikes, the continental breakfast: each is an expression of what Matt has decided this property should be. The five national parks within 90 miles make Kanab a destination regardless of where you sleep. The Quail Park Lodge gives the canyon country circuit a base that has its own character rather than just its own postcode.

The Room
Thirteen individually decorated rooms with a mid-century modern palette: crayon-colored furniture, Route 66-themed artwork, dark wood furnishings against crisp white linens, and bathrobes. TV, refrigerator, coffee and tea maker, and free WiFi in every room. Continental breakfast included daily. The rooms are designed to feel high-end within the motor lodge format: reviewers consistently describe the renovation as 'well done' and the result as feeling more refined than the roadside motel category would suggest.
The Grounds
A seasonal outdoor pool sits at the property's center. Matt hosts a weekly happy hour on the deck, a genuine meet-your-fellow-guests moment that has become one of the property's most talked-about features in reviews. Free bicycles available to all guests. Business center on-site. Free on-site parking. The property is centrally located in Kanab, within walking distance of the city's main restaurant and services corridor.
The Experience
Kanab is the staging ground for canyon country. Zion is 30 miles north on US-89, which becomes the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway through the park's eastern canyon: the most dramatic motel-to-park entry in the Southwest. Bryce Canyon is 70 miles east, with the hoodoo amphitheaters best seen at dawn when the light catches the orange and red formations. The Grand Canyon North Rim is 90 miles south: fewer crowds than the South Rim, higher elevation, and a completely different experience of the canyon. Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Angel Canyon, 4 miles north of the lodge, accepts volunteers and visitors and is one of the more unusual destination experiences in southern Utah. The Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument has canyoneering access within 30 minutes of Kanab.
