About Dock's On The River
Dock's has been in one family since 1935, when Lorene Whaley Huskey built the first cabins by hand and named the place after her late husband. The timber came from a small sawmill right on the property, cut and planed and nailed up the same day, and that same rich pine still lines the walls of the rooms today. Three generations of women have kept it going, and the sense of a place that is cared for rather than run shows up in how clean and personal a stay here feels. When the highway was widened in the 1950s, the whole court moved to its present spot on the river, where cool water flows straight out of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
