This is not a theme. Tony and Jarka Bloch are immigrants from what was then Czechoslovakia, and they have kept this hilltop lodge as a family since the 1970s. The Alpine look, the European gift shop, the Czech-German cooking that filled the neighboring restaurant for years: all of it comes from where they actually come from, carried across an ocean and set down in the Arkansas hills. When people talk about the old-fashioned hospitality here, they mean a family that treats guests like company rather than reservations. It is a small, honest place run by the people whose name is on it, and that is rarer than it should be.
