White River State Park

The White River valley is the homeland of the Lenape (Delaware), the Miami (Myaamia), and the Potawatomi. The Lenape in particular held villages along the White River in the early 1800s before treaties and forced removals cleared the valley, and the river remained central to the land the new state capital was laid out beside in the 1820s.
