The park takes its name from Howard Heisler, an early Laguna landowner from the days when the coastline was passing out of the big ranch holdings and into a seaside town. What his name marks today is a landscaped clifftop park, an unusually pretty stretch of public bluff given over entirely to lawns, flower beds, shade trees, and a walkway that hugs the very edge of the drop to the sea.

Walking it is the whole point. The paved path runs the length of the park just back from the cliff, and it is nearly flat and easy, so anyone can do it. Because the park sits so high above open water, it is one of the best free spots in town to watch the ocean.
